The natural surroundings of Pemba are spectacular and the island has a rich cultural history...Fundu Lagoon is surrounded by some of the world's leading dive sites. The resort has a fully equipped dive centre offering a fleet of boats and the marine life is exciting even when snorkelling. Fundu Lagoon even has its own 30 foot catamaran available for charter.
The nearby mangroves are also easy to explore by canoe. Sunset cruises by dhow are a romantic way to take in the surrounding beaches and islands.
For the ultimate in lazy relaxation, visit Fundu Lagoon's Spa for massage and beauty treatments. Within the resort’s main building there is a games room with pool table, darts, TV, board games and containing a library of movies and books.
Snorkelling and diving

Fundu Lagoon’s dedicated dive centre, Dive 710 is committed to sharing the thrill and excitement of Pemba's rich diving diversity as well conserving the natural marine life in the area. Dive 710 is staffed by an experienced team that has vast local knowledge about the area and our powerful dive boats ensure that all the sites of Pemba are available within easy reach.
The shallow coral reefs are ideal for snorkelling if you have yet to qualify for diving.
Sailing
Our thirty foot catamaran 'Solkattan' is exclusively available for charter by our guests at Fundu Lagoon...Day charters allow you to discover the secluded beaches of Pemba in style. Stop off to snorkel the unspoilt reefs and drop-offs, where you might see turtles grazing and a vivid array for small reef fish.
Trips depart in the morning and a barbeque lunch is provided onboard before returning back to Fundu at sunset.
Try fishing for Tuna or Kingfish to add to the succulent seafood barbeque lunch. Learn to sail with Fundu’s qualified skipper and crew - or just relax on deck and keep an eye out for spinner dolphins or humpback whales.

Local Fishing Trips - An early morning fishing trip in a small dhow with local fishermen.
Misali Island – snorkel or take a guided intertidal nature walk along one of the most stunning beaches in the Pemba Channel Conservation Area.
Ngezi Forest – Guided trip to the natural rain forest in the north of Pemba with abundant birdlife and a picnic lunch on the beach.
Fundu Lagoon resort hotel, Pemba, Zanzibar
Fundu lagoon is off the coast of east africa, situated on Pemba Island, the sister island to Zanzibar lying across the Pemba Channel to the north. The hotel is situated on a remote and beautiful beach on the south western side of the island and is only accessible by boat.There are sixteen tented bungalows, offering spacious accommodation inside and out, set under makuti (thatch) roofs on wooden decks and each with a view over the ocean. The rooms are equipped with large double or twin beds, mosquito nets, ceiling and standing fans, and indoor and outdoor seating areas. Each has an ensuite bathroom with fresh hot water shower, toilet and basin. The rooms are connected to the main buildings by sand walkways. Some rooms are situated along the beachfront with the remaining on an elevated position overlooking the ocean.
Four of our sixteen accommodations are suites with their own private chill out decks and plunge pools. Two of which are superior beach suites with extensive space to relax and a large plunge pool.
We aim to provide the perfect environment for an idyllic vacation, an untroubled haven of tropical sunshine.
The resort offers two bars, a games and television room, an excellent restaurant serving local and international cuisine and a massage and treatment room.
Listed as one of the top diving locations in the world, we also cater for the more energetic holiday-maker with a fully-equipped PADI Resort Diving Centre and a range of watersports including snorkeling and kayaking.
