But the best time to travel to Pemba Island is during the dry season, which runs from December to March and June to October. Pemba is located south of the equator and its temperatures range from lows of 20°C to 25°C and highs of 28°C and 33°C. During this time, a soft wind blows from the northeast, giving the beaches of Pemba protection against occasional gusts of wind. The breeze plays an important role to maintain constant humidity without any extreme climax changes. When the weather spoils you like this, visitors can go swimming, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and many other marine activities!

Pemba experiences two wet seasons, just like Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. The long rains start from March to May and the short rains begin in October through December. When the storm is at its peak, some water and marine activities may be limited. If water activities are a must on your bucket list, we’d recommend going during the dry seasons to avoid disappointments! When the days are wet, mornings are the best times to go snorkeling and diving. The skies usually clear up and the sun shines through for a few hours, with a slight overcast building up.

Pemba experiences two wet seasons, just like Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.
